Outbound: London events and world-wide adventures

In Outbound by Claire

I’m going to start throwing some of my favourite London events into these weekly roundups. There are some ace things that need more love. So this week, there’s a few of those plus my favourite stories, bits of kit and nonsense. As usual, there’s always someone gallivanting on a bicycle.

What’s on in London:

  • Event: Eat, Sleep, Cycle: A Bike Ride Around the Coast of Britain by Anna Hughes. Happening on Friday 13th March @ Look Mum No Hands Mare Street.
  • Exhibition: The lovely Hatch Homerton space has a new exhibition on feat. hills. Toby Coulson’s new series is up till mid-March.
  • Event: For the Love of Mud Screening @ Look Mum No Hands on Monday 23rd March. Beers, mud, cycle-cross & Director Q&A.
  • Event: Alastair Humphreys hosts a Night of Adventures. Tuesday 24th March.
  • Race: Way back in the 70s the news used to stop to switch over to see Ovett, Coe and Cram run the mile (it was fierce). It was electric. In New York they hold The Fifth Avenue Mile race, which has a similar atmosphere. Now it’s coming to London. It’s free to enter, too. Hit up the City of London Mile race.
  • Reads & films:

  • Eight road trips down America’s deserted roads include different scenarios for your trip from the ‘half baked plan’ to ‘the quest’ including some ‘love on the run’ on the way. The most adorable piece this week that’s made me want to buy a VW Camper and pile into it.
  • Queen of the Mile has quickly become one of my favourite blogs. A blog for women who are interested in cycling, running and triathlon, which is way more fun than the tagline suggests.
  • The super new, super brilliant Forward Cycling make beautiful things and enjoy shouting fuck yeah! Phwoar, look at that Saved By The Bell jersey. I’m a total convert.

  • Into a bit of cabin porn? If you weren’t, you will be. I adore number four. Ace work from TASCHENBooks.
  • Photographer of the year: including the Jurassic coast which is ridiculously beautiful.
  • Some killer adventure films at the Wilderness Collective.
  • Love my friend Naomi’s illustration for artsy running magazine Like The Wind.

  • Rad women being ‘hard-charging bitches’ in the mountains.
  • Gratuitous German cycling porn. Riding fixed in Berlin:
